How safe is abortion?
Abortion is now one of the safest surgical procedures available. In fact, a first trimester abortion is considerably safer than childbirth. Complications are rare. According to NAF statistics, only 2.5% of women having first trimester abortions had minor complications. Of the 2.5% less than half required additional surgery.

What about future child bearing?
According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control, no medical data exists to support the claim that abortion interferes with future child-bearing.

Will the abortion be painful?
Unfortunately, no medical procedure is "painless". The discomfort associated with abortion varies with each woman. Some feel none and others feel mild to moderate cramping that resolves in 20-30 minutes. The local anesthesia, plus an anti-inflammatory medication will help to minimize any discomfort. Twilight anesthesia allows you to be sedated during the procedure. You may also elect Oral Anesthesia.
